Intro Photo Essay

I was born and raised in Kansas City and before going to TCU I had never been to Texas.  TCU has become my home away from home and I am lucky enough to have a family that comes to visit me once a semester.  My family is the most important thing in my life and being away from them was hard, but I couldn't be happier at TCU.  My sister, Hannah, will be a freshman this coming year so I can't wait to see the friends that she will make and the memories that will come with the adventure TCU provides!

Going on college visits, I was always the girl asking the tour guides about there study abroad opportunities.  My favorite thing to do is travel and doing so in an environment with other college students with the same mindset as me sounded like paradise.  Being at TCU for two years now, I can't imagine missing out on a whole semester so when the opportunity to go during the summer presented itself, I couldn't have been happier!  I took this picture the day I officially put down my deposit and sent it to just about everyone in my phone book.  I was as excited then as I am now for this experience and can't wait to see what happens!!

Coming into TCU, I was terrified of what recruitment would be like but I am so glad that I ended up going through the process and pledging Chi Omega.  I have met the most amazing girls who are doing incredible things with their lives already and am inspired by all of them.  Both of my roommates, from freshman and sophomore year, were Chi O's and have become some of my best friends.  We always have fun but are there for one and other no matter hardships come our way.

When TCU joined the Big XII, I was so excited because that meant we would be playing my home team, the KU Jayhawks.  Growing up, if you weren't a Jayhawk (or Mizzou) fan there was something seriously wrong with you.  Playing KU was bitter sweet but I figured it would work out because TCU would win football and KU would win basketball; however, my true TCU spirit shined through the day the Frogs basketball team beat the Jayhawks and I was caught on national TV storming the court to show my TCU pride.

I am currently an Interior Design student at TCU.  The design program has been such a big part of my life, not only because of the classes, but because of the people and teachers that I get to be around pretty much all day everyday.  Second semester freshman year, you go through a portfolio review and only about eighteen students make it through.  To this day, I have never been so nervous for something  and opening that acceptance letter was one of the most rewarding feelings.  Some of my best friends have come from being in the design program and I am so proud of how far I have come int he program!

Some of my favorite memories from the last two years at TCU have been Halloween.  My friends and I always go way beyond the stereotypical costumes, no matter how embarrassing they may be.  Freshman year we dressed up as the four main characters from the popular movie, "The Hangover", and still get high fives for dressing up as men.  Ironically, we are all from KC and have become quite the wolf pack.  The two fine ladies to the right are taking on London with me and the one to left spent her last semester abroad there, making for an exciting five weeks to come!
